Advancing Research and Patient Care in Pancreatic Surgery Globally
The PANC-PALS consortium is committed to providing a platform where pancreatologists can collaborate, share their expertise, and advance patient care.
Inception
Historically, direct communication among the then thought leaders in the field paved the way for pancreatic surgery as we know it today. They would often detail their experience of performing a pancreatic resection on a single patient and their postoperative recovery over post mail, as was the case at the time. In a sense, these exchanges between surgeons made them "pen-pals".
The PANC-PALS consortium builds on these collaborative efforts to establish a modern-day platform for experts in the field from very high-volume centers to become
“panc(reatic)-pals”
and lead an international multicenter registry to provide the granularity in data required for the development of impactful prognostic tools to advance clinical care and tailor long-term management strategies.
Prognostication
Prognostic and treatment decision-aid tools to tailor and optimize patient care
Advancement
Making headway in the field of pancreatic surgery with robust research and multicenter collaborations
Long-term Strategies
Committed to stand the test of time and develop evolving management strategies
What our coordinators have to say...
"We envision a new era of pancreatic cancer research through global collaboration. By working together we can truly advance patient care"
Camila Hidalgo Salinas
"Together, we can transform pancreatic cancer research through global collaboration, innovation, and hope. Harnessing the power of large granular datasets, working together as a team, and focusing on the most pressing needs in the field, we will drive breakthroughs that change lives"
